Media Jobs Barometer

The changing needs of the South African media industry can be well told by taking a close look at jobs advertising. So, using the number of media-related jobs advertised on SA’s top media jobs listing over at bizcommunity.com as an experimental pond, we can see the rising importance of digital and online over traditional areas like newspapers and magazines. It’s also interesting to see the emphasis in advertising positions at the moment… a post-recession revenue hunt perhaps?
So, Grubstreet knocked together this Jobs Barometer which will give change dynamically giving a daily snapshot of the changing dynamics in our industry based on the volume of jobs advertising for different media-related sectors over at Bizcommunity.

Enjoy. We also hope to track data over time and then produce another visualisation that can give a timeline view to track larger trends.

great idea, gill. this will be very interesting to watch. perhaps because of my own bias and interest, i would find it easier if there were fewer categories. couldn’t you aggregate some of them – eg eventing, promotions and sponsorship into one?
